Deniz Wozniak built Flixu after a decade of watching those decisions compound — in startups, client projects, and one very specific Friday night at an airport terminal that made the problem impossible to ignore any longer.
The departures board said 23:40. The gate was already half-empty, and the laptop battery was at eleven percent. A development team had pushed a UI update four hours earlier — a minor release, five changed strings in the German localization file. Somewhere in the handoff between the TMS export and the agency's delivery, a single curly bracket had been dropped. The JSON was malformed. The entire deployment was failing. The fix was manual: 500 lines of raw code, on a throttled airport hotspot, with the screen brightness turned all the way down to save battery. Somewhere around line 340, sitting cross-legged on a terminal floor next to a charging station shared with a stranger watching football on his phone, the same thought surfaced that had surfaced a dozen times before: this process made no sense. The tools were either fast and wrong, or careful and completely unscalable.
A few months later, a wave of generative AI tools made it seem like the problem had been solved. Product teams started feeding application strings directly into large language models — no agencies, no TMS, near-instant output. The speed was real. So were the failures. "Dashboard" appeared as three different translations in the same manual. A compliance clause got rewritten because the model decided a friendlier tone would score higher. Technical placeholders disappeared from .strings files because the AI didn't know what to preserve. The bottleneck had shifted — from waiting for translations to auditing them. The pipeline was faster and less trustworthy at the same time.

That's the idea behind the Context Engine. Before Flixu translates a single word, it reads the document. It detects the domain, the formality register, and the target audience. It loads the corporate glossary. It injects the brand voice rules. By the time the first string is processed, the model already knows that "Dashboard" stays "Dashboard" in German — and that your tone in French is warm and direct, not formal and stiff. The translation doesn't need to be fixed after. It arrives correctly the first time. That distinction — analysis before translation — is what the methodology is built around, and why it produces different results than running strings through an API directly.
Flixu was built for the teams stuck in the same pattern: too sophisticated for generic machine translation, not large enough for a full enterprise TMS and the six-month integration project that comes with it. The developers who need localization out of their critical path. The marketing leads whose German landing page keeps coming back sounding like a corporate brochure from 2005. The localization managers approving hundreds of strings manually because no tool they've tried enforces the glossary consistently.
